Alison Burnett
Alison graduated with distinction from Birmingham Conservatoire, where she studied with Margaret Thomas and Pamela Cook. Whilst here, she joined the Birmingham based Chamber Choir 'Ex Cathedra', and became their regular soprano soloist for several years. This gave her numerous opportunities to make recordings and broadcasts, including live Choral evensongs and, alongside the London premiere in St. John's Smith Square, gave a live performance on Radio 3 of Rorate Coeli by John Joubert.
Although now living near Exeter in Devon, she continues to sing with Ex Cathedra and, as a soloist, regularly performs across the South and South West of England. She has a light lyrical voice, and relishes learning new repertoire. Together with her extensive choral repertoire, she enjoys compiling themed recitals, and has a particular passion for Early Music and English Song. She is the soloist with the Medieval Ensemble 'The Daughters of Elvin' who have performed in Cyprus as well as locally, and has recently given several recitals in Devon with her accompanist David Davies and also a recital in Spain. Alongside her performing and teaching, Alison is also an examiner for Trinity College London Exams, and in her spare time is a keen photographer; runs a business promoting natural health through the use of Aloe Vera; is a 'beginner' beekeeper; enjoys foreign travel and the odd glass of red wine. |
